Instead of “exit light, enter night,” it was exit baby, enter motherhood for a Metallica fan in Brazil.

During a concert by the legendary band in Curitaba, Brazil, Joice Figueiro gave birth to Luan on May 7,  according to the Washington Post.

It happened during an encore performance of Metallica’s smash hit, Enter Sandman, which the new parents loved.

“It was a mix of emotions,” Figueiro told the Post. “Since it wasn’t planned, I was scared that the medical team wouldn’t be ready. But there’s also the feeling of being able to tell people that this happened because Metallica is one of the bands we love the most.”

Why was an extremely pregnant woman at a Metallica show in the first place?

It turns out she just couldn’t bear to not show up, having waited years to attend. Joice and her husband, Jaime, had purchased tickets in 2019 for a planned April 2020 show. Of course, the pandemic followed and caused a number of delays.

A doctor told Joice Figueiro, who was 39 weeks pregnant, she could go, but had to sit in a special area.

“I was in the handicap area,” Figueiró said. “And I was sitting down in a safe spot, without any risks of getting hurt.”

Figueiro said she started feeling contractions as soon as Metallica took the stage. But she didn’t tell the medical team until only about three songs remained.

“It was a blur,” Joice told the Post. “It all happened so fast.”

As Metallica closed out the show with Enter Sandman, Luan Figueiro was born in good health at 11:15 p.m.

The story went viral when Metallica shared the saga on Instagram.
