The executive director of Trans Wellness Ontario in Windsor has stepped down from his role, the agency has announced.

Alexander Reid has left the leadership position as of Friday. He served as executive director of Trans Wellness Ontario since last November and before that as an educator and peer mentor.

“This past year has been full of unexpected challenges and we are thankful for Alexander’s service and leadership during this time,” said Derrick Biso, board president of Trans Wellness Ontario. “We are proud that we have been able to continue offering services and programming throughout this pandemic.”

The agency’s board presently will not pursue a replacement for the executive director’s job and instead adopt a working board model of governance and operations, he said.

“Leaving the position of executive director at Trans Wellness Ontario is bittersweet,” Reid said. “I have learned so much this past year, from rebranding to responding to a series of hate crimes — all during a global pandemic that made our services even more essential to our trans and queer clients, community members and staff. I am looking forward to what’s next for me.”
