The confirmation Monday of single cases of COVID-19 at two local Catholic elementary schools have prompted the dismissal of single classes and bus cohorts.

Students and staff at Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School in Amherstburg and St. Anne French Immersion Catholic Elementary School in Walkerville were notified Monday of the single cases confirmed at each school and the actions being directed by the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

Students in one class as well as a bus cohort at each of the schools have been directed to not attend classes Tuesday.

The health unit will notify those students when they are allowed to return to school.

Health unit staff are contacting anyone — staff and students — who may have been affected and are giving them directions.

“We want to assure parents that we are co-operating with the health unit and doing everything we can to make sure that we continue to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for their children,” a Catholic board statement said.
